in the parking lot there were these two men speaking italian to each other. it has been so long since i heard any two people speaking italian that it took a long time for it to register. at first i just thought they were speaking spanish with funny-on-purpose accents.
also someone has spilt a lot of dry white beans on the sidewalk leading up to the apartment. they crunch unexpectedly under my feet. i never thought about it but deep down i must have assumed them to be more structurally sound.
