in other news, i have a crush on my microbiology lab partner, & matters are only made worse by her shyness & reticence. i never have anything to say to her because she's so shy & i'm so atwitter. today she stared at my manubrium for about ten minutes. except really she was staring, apparently, at my stella maris medal which i wear on a chain.
lab partner: are you a catholic?
me: yes.
[long pause during which i am too shy & atwitter to say anything else.]
lab partner: are catholics wearing a cross? [draws a cross on the palm of her hand] is that the right word?
me: yes. a cross.
i should mention that part of why i have a crush on her is that english is not her first language but she speaks it exceptionally well.
i should also mention that i am allowed to say "manubrium" & not get demerits for pretentiousness because i have an anatomy exam tonight covering the bones & the joints of the human skeleton. i might add that i am the queen of the bones & joints of the human skeleton.
